Mrs. Pat Holland arrived to teach English at Dumas High School in 1979, and the mark she made here will last forever. The challenge and support she provided to her students positioned them to excel not only in academics in their post high school education, but in their chosen fields as well. Mrs. Holland has influenced hundreds of Demons and Demonettes in positive ways. She taught her students to think critically, communicate effectively, to appreciate the world around them, and to become well-rounded individuals. She never accepted less than their best, so her students never settled for less in life. Her enthusiasm, her genuine affection for the learning and the learners, and her high standards are all legacies that she passed to students, who in turn have passed them onto those within their spheres of influence. Her shadow will fall over DHS for many years to come.
